"
The Department of Environmental Science and Ecology at Brockport launched a lifetime of inspiration for me and along with it came a broad set of skills to supplement my career. Even though I was not in the Wetland Ecology concentration I was able to get a job working with wetlands. The staff did a great job at preparing me for where I am now and for what is to come."

"
Brockport is a relatively small school, but I've met people around the country that know about Brockport because of the ENV & E program. During my time in the program, I was molded into an independent academic by being constantly challenged and supported by my professors. I truly believe Brockport set me up for my current graduate position and I am excited to see where I end up after I complete my MS."

"I got the opportunity to work in a chemistry lab for a natural gas plant and gained some scientific experience. This summer I will be completing an internship with the Smithsonian station in Fort Pierce, Florida. This will involve lab and field research on coral hypoxia in the area and some in the Florida Keys. I will be making a permanent move to the area and looking forward to other ocean conservation opportunities."

"Completing my BS at Brockport was the first step toward my dream of being a shark scientist. Even though I studied freshwater (rather than marine) ecology, the knowledge I gained and the people I met during my time there were indispensable to me. I am now a newly admitted MS student at FAU Harbor Branch in Fort Pierce, Florida. My research will focus on the effects of harmful algal blooms on sharks and rays."

"
Brockport gave me the discipline and resources to move across the country and start my career with Idaho Department of Fish and Game in 2016. I am currently a Fish Culturist at the Clearwater Fish Hatchery in Ahsahka, ID. The ENV department was more of a family to me than anything and I still keep in touch with many people who I met via the department."

"I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Brockport and studying Environmental Science & Biology. The small class sizes in the department allowed me to ask questions and engage with professors. The department developed my increase in aquatic ecology and limnology by summer internships, which helped me acquire my current job. During my time at Brockport, I also met some great young scientists and friends that I will keep for a long time."

"
The staff at the college at Brockport taught myself and my peers more than just how to speak latin or how to identify a lotic system, we were taught how to think...
We were shown how to analyze problems to fix them instead of just memorizing info.
I have not been to Brockport since 2015, however; the staff still are interested and invested in me as they were on day one. Great community"

"I worked my way into a career. I started out as an AmeriCorp member with a modest stipend. I spent a year working as a field biologist for a consulting firm, when I spent weeks at a time out of town working 15+ hr days. I got my break when I accepted a position as an environmental scientist II for the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation- Division of Water Quality. I was able to earn a promotion to an Environmental Scientist III. The experience I gained in those positions allowed me to be offered a position in a desirable location. I was flexible and persistent, and was able to accomplish my goals and establish a great career."
